Andy Samberg

You just made me jizz in my pants.

After generations of defending capital punishment and marijuana possession laws on moral, ethical and religious grounds, after years of declaring that the death penalty acted as a deterrent against violent crime and that pot smokers were more dangerous to society than, say, alcohol consumers, all of a sudden thanks to our economic crisis more and more mainstream powerbrokers are considering dramatic changes to our criminal justice system.

This trend toward releasing non-violent offenders naturally begs the question: what about legalizing marijuana possession and lowering the drinking age? A California lawmaker Monday introduced legislation that would legalize (and tax) pot there.

Hell yes.  Why is CBS News the only ones talking about this?  Legalizing cannabis would save our economy.  We could make billions off of taxing it,  save billions from ending the War on Drugs and take the power out of the hands of those Mexican drug cartels.

But that’s just the beginning.

Think about the jobs it would create. We would create jobs for people to grow the cannabis. We would create jobs for people to sell the cannabis. We would create jobs for people who would want to open coffee shops where people could come in, relax, and smoke a joint.

And think about how much money the food industry would make if cannabis becomes legal. McDonald’s, Doritos, Coke, Pepsi, Funyuns, Reese’s, Sarah Lee, and Little Debbie would make so much money that their CEOs would get naked and run through the streets screaming, “Why the fuck didn’t we do this sooner?  Why was our government so goddamn retarded?”

Hopefully California will pass this law and show our government how to fix the economy without using taxpayers’ money.  And if they’re the only state that does this then I’ll be buying a house there within the next three years…

Actually, as much as you detest the guy – Glenn Beck actually had this California assemblyman on his TV show this past week. Even if you don’t like the guy – he isn’t afraid to showcase all sides of an issue. I don’t understand why the MSM isn’t talking about it either.

@RE Ausetkmt – I read it. I agree with everything you wrote, except the not for legalizing all drugs. I say legalize them all on tax the shit out of them.

@Bobo – I’ll give Glenn Beck credit, every once in awhile he has a good guest on the show. But I still hope the guy dies in a freak shower accident.

I will ask the same question as before…

What about the Diabetes Type II implications?

All of us “Stoners” from the 60′s/70′s/80′s know for a fact that “habitual marijuana use” greatly increases the risk of Type II Diabetes because of the “junk food” we ate.

Should that play a role in future legalization? Are you supportive of community health programs that can address such issues if legalized? And if so, would you be willing to extend it across the board to smokers of tobacco, and drinkers of alcohol?

If we are going to legalize pot, and join it in with cigs and booze, would that be a good time to initiate an across the board heath access to address all 3 vices?

    Or…

Do we simply ignore the deaths and havoc/destruction that adding a third vice to the public whirlpool will cause, and simply say… “You did it, you suffer for it!”?

Do we ever take responsibility for our actions as a whole? Or do we just continue to kill ourselves off with no real forethought of the long range implications?

When marajuana became legal in the Netherlands, there were high expectations. Result: increase in use of marajuana among Dutch, increase in cannabis tourism, mainly americanos. And a decrease in crime..))

If we are going to permit bad behavior and tax it, why not tax masturbation? The revenues from pimply-faced teenage boys alone would eliminate the federal deficit.

  7. Phuck Politics says:

@Heresy Today – Type II diabetes isn’t an issue. Thousands of people have Type II diabetes from eating McDonald’s, Burger King, Chick-Fil-A, Krispy Kreme, Dunkin’ Donuts, Butter soaked popcorn, Sour Patch Kids, Coke, Pepsi, Sprite, Mountain Dew, Cinnamon Buns, Cheese Danishes, and Doritos without being high.

Marijuana shouldn’t be a scapegoat for people who didn’t want to eat right and exercise.

@Hans – That’s why I want to move to the Netherlands. Is there a need for computer programmers and/or math teachers over there?

@Blancabree – If we taxed masturbation I’d be broke in 3 days.

  10. Heresy Today says:

    @Phuck…

Actually Diabetes Type II is an issue, you might want to do a little homework, but we will leave it at that.

So, do you advocate releasing all “vices” into the public whirlpool? Simply decriminalize anything that isn’t a “hands-on” crime?

First pot, then what is next? What about when other folks mount campaigns that eventually decriminalize something else? Is there ever a line to be drawn?

I am not trying to be an arse, just trying to see what you would advocate, and what not, and why some are acceptable, and maybe others not. :-)

  11. Phuck Politics says:

@Heresy Today – Type II diabetes is an issue, just not one when it comes to marijuana.

I’m not for decriminalization, I’m for legalization. We should legalize all drugs and tax them. Who are we to say what an adult can and cannot put into their bodies?

  12. Heresy Today says:

    @PP…

After legalization, don’t we need to write all new laws to be added to federal, state, county, & local codes?

Cultivation? Use in public? While driving? At work? Drugs in schools?

Is there a new “crime factor” involved?

Look at pot cultivation in Mendocino County, Ca. Rip-off’s, shootings, houses burning down over poor growing practices.

For someone who despises the retarded redtape of bureaucracy, aren’t you opening the floodgates for hella more?

I am not being contrary just to disrespect you, just trying to discuss the long-term effects, and the changes that would need to take place as a byproduct of “legalization”.

When would be a good time to legalize? Now, to increase all tax bases, and begin bailing out debt, while incurring more debt via these new legal bureaucracy byproducts? Later after the economy has recovered, and government(s) can put more focus on these bureaucracy byproducts of the legalization?

What affect would “in-country legalization” have on foreign drug cartels who will be driven out of business asap? Will they try to sabotage in-country cultivation with violence?

What about the big drug industry who will lose money over folks using these schedule 1 narcotics as opposed to using their schedule 2 narcotics? Will they lobby relentlessly to stop it? Maybe even their own brand of sabotage? Can they be trusted to produce and distribute? Or can the tobacco companies?

When all is said and done, will their be a new type of crime statistic related to the legalization? A new health statistic?

Again, I am not trying to argue, but I find this a rather interesting conversation. One I think all people interested in legalization might want to have, so they can be better prepared when the day does come. (And it will, it must just to get the foreign cartels out of our society once and for all, as well as the will of the people finally coming to its fruition.)

  13. Phuck Politics says:

@Heresy Today- The money spent on changing the marijuana laws couldn’t cost as much as the money spent on changing the prohibition laws.

Remember, they were in the middle of the great depression and they had to admen the Constitution, change the drinking laws, change the public laws, change the driving laws, change the working laws, and change the school laws.

Did this ruin the economy? No. Did the mafia’s profit margin increase? No. Did the mafia sabotage so many stores that people are now afraid to go shopping at places that sell alcohol? No.

Then why are you worried about these foreign drug cartels? They won’t be able to do anything because they won’t have any money.

And who the fuck cares about the big drug industry? Once our government sees how much money legalizing marijuana brings in, they won’t have a problem telling the drug industry to go fuck themselves.

And who cares about tobacco and alcohol companies? They aren’t going anywhere. People will always want to smoke cigarettes and drink alcohol. What makes you think they’ll stop once marijuana becomes legal?

I just don’t understand how people can be so against legalizing a plant that’s never killed anyone, never made a husband beat the shit out of his wife, never made a father rape his daughter, never tore a family apart…it just blows my fucking mind.

  14. Heresy Today says:

    @PP…

I am not against it, I am just hoping that the government will take the proper steps prior to its “legalization” to make the transition smoother on both the people and the government. It will be legalized one day, that is obvious, I just hope everyone’s ducks are in a row when the newest vice is released into the public whirlpool. LOL

  15. Phuck Politics says:

@Heresy Today – This vice isn’t new. It’s already in the public whirlpool. All the government has to do is make it legal.
