The Obama Administration said today that people who use and sell marijuana for medical purposes should not face federal prosecution. Instead, prosecutors should go after only high level traffickers.
The new Justice Department guidelines issued today to 14 states that allow medical marijuana effectively reverse long-existing stance on the drug. The Bush Administration raided medical distributors who violated federal laws.
Obama’s feeling pressure from his base because he hasn’t fought for the public option, or reformed Wall Street, or closed Gitmo, or stopped bombing the Middle East, or stopped bitching about Fox News. So he does what every politician does when they upset the people that got them elected – he gives them a pity-fuck.
But it wasn’t a full pity-fuck, because there wasn’t any penetration. No, Obama made his base get on their knees, stick out their tongue, and act as his cum sock.
Why do I say that? Because he didn’t change jack shit. He didn’t sign any legislation barring the Justice Department from arresting medical marijuana patients. He didn’t tell Congress to draft legislation barring the Justice Department from arresting medical marijuana patients. And he hasn’t condemned the Justice Department from raiding dispensaries the last time he promised this shit .
So this is just Obama’s go to move when his base is pissed off.
And his base bought it hook, line, and sinker, because they’re praising his name while lapping up his jizz.
Except me. Because I don’t trust this corporate whore, and I only allow people with huge balls to jizz on my face.

Bravo! This is, if I may say, top-shelf eloquence.
As I perceive it, what stands out about this episode more than the cynicism of the administration’s “throw-a-bone-to-the-lefties” gesture (which is, you know, predictable), but the eagerness with which the canine — or, rather, ovine — factions of the supposed American “left” accept this chalk-dry, meatless morsel.
Not only does it reek with the putrid stank of a bunch of self-congratulatory, upper-middle-class-California pseudo-hippies who by and large are among the most hypocritical practitioners of ‘lifestyle capitalism’, having long ago given up any pretense of caring about things like social justice, but — as you illustrate deftly — it highlights the extent to which the masochistic American so-called “left” is still addicted to its relationship with its highly abusive partner: the Democratic Party.

My actual point was going to be this: I think you’re right that both parties are owned by corporations. I also think that there is a demographic/generational dynamic at play in the politics of the Democratic Party. Basically, what I mean is that our plight might have to do w/ what Tocqueville called the “tyranny of the majority”: the Boomers and up, those generations are the ones getting their way, because they are holding onto the lion’s share of the economic, social and cultural capital, but there are — and will long continue to be — lots of them.
For the most part — vicissitudes of the economy notwithstanding — these people are happy. They’ve been catered to since the aftermath of the Second World War, and the explosion of opportunities for educational, professional and infrastructure advancement that came with it.
Particularly the Boomers themselves are — despite being spoiled, self-centered, vain and rich — fairly easy to please: Don’t take away their Social Security or Medicare. Don’t raise their taxes. Fine, if you want to have wars, go fight them — I won’t even pay attention — but don’t you dare raise my taxes to pay for them. Need to go deeper and deeper into debt to do that? Fine, whatever. I’ve got Satellite TV, what do I care?
And you’d better not do something stupid like institute a draft, because my son’s gonna go to a really great college and then he’s going to go to medical school, and we don’t need the distraction. Need to institute what is effectively a “back-door draft” (John Kerry’s only intelligent utterance, ever) in which you essentially send off poor kids from rural areas and the inner-cities to weird-sounding Islamic countries to be used as cannon-fodder, all of which is being undertaken entirely for the benefit of the oil industry? That’s fine; whatever. Just make sure I don’t have to see any of those damn coffins with the American flags draped over them on the news at night: I have enough stress in my life as it is…..
…..Umm, so anyway. That sort of thing.
