Public_Option_Enemies

The public option is dead:

Underscoring the heated emotions surrounding the government insurance plan, Reid refused to acknowledge its demise, contending that reports it was gone were “not true.”

In a statement, Reid said the emerging compromise “includes a public option and will help ensure the American people win in two ways: one, insurance companies will face more competition, and two, the American people will have more choices.”

Even though the government plan would have been available to relatively few people, it took on outsize importance in the health care debate. Liberal groups clamored for it as necessary to offer consumers choice and competition, while Republicans and business groups — and critically, a bloc of moderate senators — contended it could mushroom out of control and drive private companies out of business.

In the end, dropping it was the price Reid had to pay for potential support from senators like moderate Blanche Lincoln, D-Ark., and Joe Lieberman, a Connecticut independent. Reid must have the support of all 58 Senate Democrats and two independents to achieve the necessary 60 votes to overcome Republican stalling tactics and advance legislation, giving great influence to the handful of moderates opposed to the government insurance plan.

I knew this was going to happen when I found out Obama cut a secret deal with the Pharmaceutical industry. But I didn’t know how pathetic the whole debate was going to be. I mean, Obama and the Democrats started out with a compromise. Instead of demanding a single-payer system they demanded the public option. Then they let the House water it down to the point where only 2 percent of Americans would be eligible. Then they let the Senate fuck it in the ass and tell it to get the hell out of town. And Obama was too busy blowing his generals to offer any leadership.

But the thing that amazes me about all of this is how Congress is now patting themselves on the back like they’ve done the country a huge favor. Which shouldn’t surprise me since these are the same people who repealed the Glass-Stegall act so that Citicorp could merge with Travelers and become Citigroup.

Of course who am I to complain about the health care bill? I’m just a crazy liberal/communist/Marxist/anarchist/socialist/radical small-time blogger that lives in my parents’ basement wearing my pajamas all day while masturbating to German poop-porn. I’m sure this bill will stop companies like Aetna from dropping 650,000 clients next year, right?

    LOL

Great. Now I’m going to die some day. I guess there’s some good to that though.

@PQ8 – Great. Now I’m going to die some day. I guess there’s some good to that though.

You don’t have to worry about health insurance when you’re dead.

  3. OHHH says:

Because a single payer system would be FREE!!!

    FREE!!

I mean like no one would have to pay!

Well just a little, and only those who awork for a living.

Well maybe a little more from those ‘productive’ guys… Fuck em – they should be paying quite a bit more!! HAHAH Yea fuck those guys!

But they’d be helping so many people out it’s worth it isn’t it! I mean, I won’t be paying, but they will so it’s all good! And they’re EVIL, cause they work and make money. And some even worked so hard they made ALOT of money. Simply not fair!

Besides, Obama and Pelosi make the best choice for me…

  4. Phuck Politics says:

@OHHH – Yeah, fuck those poor people who can’t get a job because Wall Street ruined the economy!!! Those poor bastards don’t need any help. Why? Because their fucking poor! HaHa! Poor people are a drain on society and deserve to die in a fucking gutter!

They don’t deserve to get trillions of dollars in government handouts because they don’t have a fucking job! Maybe if they figured out a complex way of trading stocks that aren’t regulated then they could get health care! But they don’t so they can continue to lay around in their piss-stained pants! Lazy, no good fuckers!

lol that was kind of funny

Still sucks finding work and being successful nowadays as a young adult though

  6. OHHH says:

PQ8, it’s an uphill battle to become successful at any age.
Just keep an eye out for any opportunities. If you work hard (at ANY job) and have a good attitude that shows, doors always open. Always.

Attitude and Ethic is the key to everything in life. Surround yourself with positive people. Ditch the ‘everything sucks in my life’ jokers, they’ll never succeed except by accident or a silver spoon.

Allow people to wonder what it is in your life that makes you such a positive person, and you’ll attract success. Walk around miserable, and you’ll attract the more miserable.

  7. Phuck Politics says:

@OHHH – Thanks for the pep talk Tony Robbins.

  8. PQ8 says:

I’m a negative – positive kind of person. I am thankful that I don’t have a “normal” outlook on life. I don’t care what the celebrities are doing, I don’t care about fast cards, I don’t care about popularity or pleasing anyone, and I don’t care about a lot of unimportant crap. Thats also why I don’t have a lot of friends, I’m the likable but weird guy. I have no problem with that and I don’t think I’m an unhappy person. I feel like a lot of things are pointless but it doesn’t deter me from doing things, even though the last few years have been really bad for me. It’s nothing really different from most peoples situations. Being unique is just another concept. I just wish more people could get a similar viewpoint because I think it would save a lot of grief, if that makes any sense.

The problem I have is that you basically need school to get money, but you need money to get school, and etc. The normal problems people my age face! Right now I’m my own boss squeaking by so I’ll figure it out, it just gets tough sometimes. At least I don’t have the “normal” problems bogging me down so I can deal with and enjoy the important stuff!

  9. PQ8 says:

The school thing is a whole different subject, if I might add…I want education because I want to learn, not to please anybody or make money, but apparently thats wrong? The whole thing feels like a scam at times too! Positives outweigh the negatives I guess.

  10. Laci the Dog says:

My boss says that the US pointing to the UK and Canadian single payer system is a hoax. He points out that the German system is FAR better, which it is.

OHHH, I live in places with “single payer” and there are ways to equitably spread the burden. Unfortunately, that is usually through VAT (Value Added Tax).

However, you shouldn’t delude yourself as you are still paying for those who don’t have health care when they go to an emergency room for treatment of the sniffles, or dial 911 because they have a hangnail. In fact, the care they receive from such treatment costs far more than if they went to a physician for just a checkup.

Why because the emergency room is going to run all sorts of tests on them since its an emergency room. And they can’t turn them away!

So, you are paying whether by single payer, or just by the societal costs of not having health care.

    http://lacithedog.blogspot.com/2009/11/richard-nixon-liberal.html

  11. Laci the Dog says:

One other point, there is supplemental coverage. I suggest you look up BUPA
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bupa

Any plan would be a “safety net” and the insurers could sell supplemental coverage as they currently do with medicare.

Fortunately, there are dupes like OHHH out there who haven’t really looked into this issue.

  12. PQ8 says:

“My boss says that the US pointing to the UK and Canadian single payer system is a hoax. He points out that the German system is FAR better, which it is.”

    What do you mean?

  13. OHHH says:

Laci what exactly are you responding to, I didn’t see anyone say anything about the UK, Canada, or Germany.

Or are you just trying to use my response as an excuse to link something you wrote on your blog? Ahh there it is, isn’t it?

    A. The US health system is superior to anything else on our earth in all the ways that count — due to the way it’s BEEN run – privately. Spit stupid statistics all you like, this is simply an undeniable fact. So tell your boss that while we appreciate his expertise in German Healthcare, no one runs over there to get life threatening treatments.

    B. Conservatives are the ones who keeps saying that everyone gets treatment regardless of coverage. It’s the liberals who say “THEY”RE DYING CAUSE THEY CANT GO TO THE EMERGENCY ROOM!!!”. So who are you fooling? Go read some of my past posts before you make assumptions.

    C. Who the fuck cares about BUPA? How many people do you personally know who’s using it? That’s a rich person’s luxury in England, you think we’re stupid and don’t know that? I lived there.
England also has private doctors (AKA BUPA)! Course the don’t use them cause they’re too busy paying VAT, TV TAX, Excise,Natl Insurance, Income Tax, etc etc. Good thing you have sub-par Nationalized health care!

My wife went to the emergency room in oxford and it was fucking awful- from the look to the care. Giant plastic sheets as doors, dirty, took forever then was rushed – total shit. Most Americans who defend or bash national healthcare have no idea what it’s really like. I do.

  14. PQ8 says:

Yeah but weren’t you in the military vs flat out living there, if that makes any sense (ignoring the emergency room thing? Does that even make any difference?

And, I dunno, we have tons of crap hospitals here, so maybe that was a one time thing?

I just know the Canadian people I know are pretty satisfied with what they have, and get annoyed when they hear about the whole delay thing and what not people usually say about there system over here, but I dunno. I can’t argue with firsthand experience but I also think it really depends and you can’t just give one sweeping fact about something huge like that. I don’t have experience with it though. Even here I haven’t been to a hospital/docter/dentist (eye doctor though!) since 9th grade.

I still think that the huge anti healthcare thing going around the media, actual concerns aside, HAS to be influenced from the crooked insurance companies out there. It seems to me like if we just fixed the insurance companies from screwing people it would be a better idea.

  15. Laci the Dog says:

OHHH what a cretin, You are talking about how to pay for the health care. You dim yanks don’t need to reinvent the wheel since most industrialised countries have this system.

    BUPA, I have it dumbfuck.

I’m not going past your posts, you’re too fucking stupid to know what you’re talking about. If people are getting teatment in the ER, who the fuck is paying for them OHHH what a cretin?

Have you been to a US ER?

OHHH you have your head up your arse.

  16. OHHH says:

You’re full of shit Laci, you think we’re fucking stupid? You don’t have BUPA, or you would’ve put that into your first response, or a million responses before. But instead you did a google and threw it in a 2nd post to act like you know what the fuck is up. You wouldda been sprouting I USE BUPA a billion posts ago. You are a fraud Laci. A fraud who has no idea what the fuck is up. Go back to eating your faggots and spotted dick.

And we don’t need to KNOW how to pay for healthcare, dog. We already DO pay, and we’ve got a fantastic system. We just need competition – and that means REMOVING Gov’t intrusion (aka remove federal state only regulation), not asking them to intrude more.

And PQ8 I lived off base for 3 of my 4 years. I also got to experience our own ‘military/gov’t’ healthcare, and its worse. Doctors have no need to worry about if you like them or not, there’s no checks and balances.

Frankly Lacy, Americans don’t really give a shit what the rest of ‘industrialized countries’ are doing. We helped the majority of them BECOME industrialized, or prevented them from singing NAZI tunes.

We are who the world looks to for most things, whether we want it or not. So fuck off with pretending that you care so much about us that you’d like to see us come and meet ‘your’ standards.

  17. nahummer says:

Sorry OHHH, I know you have problems with verbs and conjugation along with the whole thinking for yourself thing, but I think you meant to say “We WERE who the world looks to for most things”.

  18. OHHH says:

Yea all my posts are ‘talking points’, just ask any liberal.

But you’re right, the way Obama has made us apologetic for everything bowing to his foreign superiors I’m surprised we haven’t been invaded yet…

He’s damaged the USA more in 1 year than all our presidents combined in our history.

  19. PQ8 says:

“Go back to eating your faggots and spotted dick.”

    Spotted dick?!?

  20. Blanca DeBree says:

Mission Accomplished! Once again we managed to trick the gullible and stupid into protesting themselves out of health care. God Bless Joe Lieberman! Now if we can only get all those rubes to vote me a huge tax break, themselves a huge tax increase, and even get them to load themselves into the cattle cars as we cart them off to “greener pastures.”

  21. ZIRGAR says:

Oh, OHHH, I love it when you get those big ol’ synaptic brain pistons pumpin’! You and your fancy word usin’ are such a thrill!

  22. mikeb302000 says:

May I go back to the original post in which PP said, “I found out Obama cut a secret deal with the Pharmaceutical industry.”

After a year and a half as an unabashed Obama supporter, I’ve finally changed my mind. The last straw for me was the West Point speech and the commitment of 30,000 troops for Afghanistan. What softened me up was the torture coverup, the failure to address gun control and the fact that Guantanamo is still not closed definitively.

I’m not surprised that he’s failed in this health care business too.

The puppet masters have him by the balls, I shouldn’t blame him too much. The Military Industrial Complex, the Petroleum gangsters and these insurance and banking robber barons are the real deal, Obama is just a ball-less puppet.

  23. Phuck Politics says:

@Mikeb – What softened me up was the torture coverup, the failure to address gun control and the fact that Guantanamo is still not closed definitively.

Don’t forget the increased unmanned drone attacks in Pakistan, Bagram prison, continuing Blackwater’s no-bid contracts, resigning the Patriot Act, granting telecommunication companies immunity, and continuing indefinite detention.

  24. PQ8 says:

Yeah… Almost all the presidents end up being puppets don’t they? I mean, when people are hating Obama, I really don’t think there wording it right, shouldn’t it be Obama’s Administration? It’s not like he’s single handedly sitting in his throne with a crown that says SOCIALISM ROX and commanding his slaves to change the white house into a pyramid, right?

  25. Laci the Dog says:

OHHH you’re such a fucking asshole.

I DID tell you I had BUPA. Anyway, why the fuck should I have to say I have BUPA and that there are people who have it.

Just because you’re an ignorant bastard doesn’t make me a fraud.

It just show you up for being a total fuckheaded bastard. Fuck that totally arrogant bastard.

If you jerk offs hadn’t have sat back on the sidelines waiting to see who would win in the 14-18 war, there wouldn’t have been a Second World War. For that matter, if it weren’t for US meddling post 14-18, the world wouldn’t be in the mess it is.

You are an ignorant bastard to think the US helped make anyone industrial, that’s a bit like saying that the Congo helped create the industrial world.

The US was a backwater until well into the 19th Century well after the rest of the world had seen the Industrial revolution.

Well, keep your amnesia about how other countries have fared and repeat the Soviet Unions mistakes in Afghanistan. I’m sick that the rest of NATO is following US ignorance.

So, you sponged off the NHS while you were stationed in the UK, well you got what you deserved.

I can’t imagine you were anything of substance anyway. So, you were living like any other poor squaddie. Woe upon the US if you had any sort of leadership position.

    I have BUPA, arsehole! HAHAHAHAHA!

  26. PQ8 says:

“If you jerk offs hadn’t have sat back on the sidelines waiting to see who would win in the 14-18 war, there wouldn’t have been a Second World War. For that matter, if it weren’t for US meddling post 14-18, the world wouldn’t be in the mess it is.”

    Hey, not my fault!

  27. Laci the Dog says:

PQ8, I’m just ragging on OHHH what a fuckbrain.

He shouldn’t boast about US accomplishments, especially since it enjoys redoing other countries fuckups based upon its ignorance. Why it’s a world power other than it HAD money and was beyond Japanese and GErman bomber range is beyond me.

Spotted dick is a type of pudding (dessert), unless you’r OHHH what a moron.

    Then, it’s a donkey’s cock.

  28. Laci the Dog says:

OHHH what an oik you are, if anything you are the fraud for even assuming that a Brit would volunteer they had BUPA.

Calling me a fraud does not hide the fact that you are an ignorant, self-righteous, cretin.

God, where did you live off base a fucking McDonald’s or someother Yank colony? Obviously, you had no contact with any Brits.

Or if you did they were peasants like yourself, you little Oik.

  29. stunatra says:

@mike, I don’t know where the fuck you’ve been, but Obama said he wanted to escalate the war in Afghanistan REPEATEDLY during the campaign.

I guess people only hear what they want to hear.

  30. Laci the Dog says:

Obama beats the opposition hands down, but that’s not hard.

Of course, a parliamentary system would be much better, but I would imagine the US would go through more governments than Italy.

  31. OHHH says:

Laci, you’re repeated appeals and insults show you as the fraud you are.

Course you don’t know much about anything, so I’m sure this point is lost on you as well.

At least your imaginary friends who tell you how smart you are won’t let you down!!

  32. rory says:

Laci..listen darl. Why don’t you and I brew up a nice pot of Earl Grey, get out the jaffa cakes(or would you prefer a digestive?)..ease back on the couch, watch old Pete and Dud,and generally have a chilled out time? Then we can be in a state of utter bliss and forget the OHH’s of this world. And I have experienced health care in the U.K.and it was brilliant!!!!

  33. Phuck Politics says:

@Laci – I would love to have the parliamentary system in place over here.

@Rory – Way to rub it in man. Way to rub it in.
