Why aren’t the Republicans/Tea Partiers bitching about this:
One thing you can say about the defense budget presented as part of President Barack Obama’s $3.8 trillion federal budget is that it is marginally more honest than some previous budgets. In years past Defense secretaries have pretended that the costs of waging active wars are separate from the “baseline” military budget and have not included those costs in annual budget figures, leaving them to supplemental appropriations.
However, the figure for the projected 2011 military budget is forthrightly estimated at $708.2 billion, which consists of $548.9 billion in the “baseline” budget and $159.3 billion for “overseas contingency operations,” e.g., the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq. Almost as an afterthought, however, there’s an additional $33 billion to pay for the 30,000 extra troops President Obama is sending to Afghanistan, bringing the grand total to $741.2 billion.
The Center for a New American Security calculates that, when adjusted for inflation, this military budget is 13 percent higher than at the peak of the Korean War, 33 percent higher than at the peak of the Vietnam War, 12 percent higher than at the peak of the Cold War and 64 percent higher than the Cold War average. To be sure, military pay is higher in the all-volunteer military than during the era of conscription, but the military is also considerably smaller.
Emmanuel Goldstein…er, I mean, Osama bin Laden is/was a smart motherfucker. He knew that crashing two planes into two towers filled with white collar workers would get us to spend hundreds of billions of dollars on making more guns and bombs to kill poor, innocent brown people.
Now if only he could plan some kind of attack that would get our government to invest hundreds of billions of dollars into health care and education….

OHHH says:
Well for one, Defense is the only thing American should support our govt spending money on.
As for asking why conservatives don’t hearken to far left lib viewpoints, isn’t that kind of ridiculous?
That’s like asking why liberals aren’t complaining about “Climategate – the giant lie designed to fuck everyone while ‘feeling good’”.
nahummer says:
Conservatives have bought the lie Phuck and there’s nothing we can do about it, cognitive dissonance and all that. A conversation might go like this: “Dubya lied to you about everything, including the true cost of funding the wars, hiding it in supplemental appropriations for years”. “What? That commie fascist Obama wants to take my guns away! Let’s teabag until Faux News comes and films us.” Confusing folks with obfuscation isn’t difficult when you’ve got listeners like the one above.
OHHH says:
Hey look its some guy from Canada living in Poland bitching about Americans!
What a life he must have! An inspiration to us all…
Phuck Politics says:
@OHHH – We get it man. You don’t care about the government spending hundreds of billions of dollars killing brown people while the rest of the country loses their homes, goes to bed hungry, and can’t get proper health care.
@nahummer – Conservatives bought into the lie they created.
OHHH says:
Phuck, We get it man. You don’t care about our constitution or believe Americans are responsible for their own livelihoods, and want to make other people pay for all your personal wishes.
As for the Butt-buddying going on, I find it hilarious Phuck is agreeing with duncehammer and he doesn’t even know what the fuck he’s agreeing with. You agreed with duncehammer’s insubstantial ‘no-point’ because he flowered it with his thesaurus… (and browns his nose)…
Got news for you duncehammer, saying “Confusing folks with obfuscation” is the same as saying “Confusing folks with confusion”. Such a fuckin tool…
nahummer says:
Let me bow to your magnificence OHHHH, by thanking you for pointing out the obvious redundancy, better would have been ‘confusing folks by conflating’, more to the point as well. I really do think you’d benefit if you tried to see through the smoke screen intentionally laid down by both parties in your one choice system instead of always falling back on the same, irrelevant arguments my friend. Attacking can be a good strategy but you also have to know when to step back and assess a changed landscape. Wrapping yourself in the flag and constitution has the negative consequence of blinding you to the truth.
OHHH says:
Once again duncehammer pulls out a thesaurus and writes a paragraph of nothing…
You know all too well that my opinion has zero party basis, all libs do who’ve read more than 1 line of my retort – and frankly I don’t care if you agree or not – I expect libs not to agree with most things by their nature of denial.
The only “smoke screen, parrot speak” I see are by the large majority of liberal blogs and their faithful. Which is why I’ve chosen Phucks to show the idiocy that they are, since most people with common sense simply laugh and move on.
Which brings me to “My opinion”. It’s based on COMMON SENSE, something that eludes most liberals apparently. And my tone mimics that of what I’m responding to.
People write dumb shit like “The majority of Americans are stupid because they don’t agree with ME” and COMMON SENSE dictates that it is YOU who are the ‘stupid’ one. Cause if YOU were smart with all the worlds problems solved in your head, you wouldn’t be typing on some worthless liberal 2 bit blog, and you wouldn’t be satisfied from the minority who agree with you…
