@rory:
BBC world service radio is brilliant,always giving robust debate,not 20 second soundbites.And at least it provides both sides of any disussion.

Since I'm already playing the part of The Curmudgeon in the Shakespearean Comedy that is our Internet lives, I may as well also say that, is it just me or has the BBC kind of gone downhill over the years, too? Nowhere NEASR as bad as American media, mind you. But still. It seems like they indulge more neocon tomfoolery over across the pond than they used to.

Of course, at least they're giving Tony Blair and his Iraq War buddies a right drubbing in public hearings at the moment.

What can I say? These damn kids today.....

@PhP:

Phuck Politics says:
@Fractured Jester – If I had any money I would bet it all on bin Laden being as dead as Michael Jackson.

Couldn't agree more. I even seem to remember there being a period of time a few years ago during which a number of people whose job it is to act like they know about these things saying: "It's highly unlikely he's still alive." But after the passage time, lo and behold, they're not really saying that anymore.

And when you consider: When was it -- a while ago -- that the infamous bin Laden-in-a-cave video messages stopped being released and in their place were a succession of bin Laden audio messages-with-sketchy-ass-sound, and the contents of which are basically just dull anyway.

I mean there's also the question: What the hell difference does it make whether this particular dude is still out there? In a way, the framing of the issue itself is pure distraction to meaninglessness....

Obama's a socialist because he's a tax and spend, big government Democrat. In objective reality these two concepts are in no way the same thing, but in GOP speak they are. Just like for the GOP, reconciliation is the same thing as the "nuclear option" or Sarah Palin is a qualified candidate for national office, or reimbursement for end of life counseling is the same thing as "death panels" or teabaggers are true patriots. You get the idea...

The Socialist shit is just something they reactionaries use to scare the crap out of the moronic masses so that the mms act in their worst interests.

The Beeb does a better job of getting out the news, and is far more trusted than ANY US news source.

Even NPR is crap in my opinion since it has to beg for money and takes bribes, er, sponsorships from corporations.
