The Obama administration has taken the extraordinary step of authorizing the targeted killing of an American citizen, the radical Muslim cleric Anwar al-Awlaki, who is believed to have shifted from encouraging attacks on the United States to directly participating in them, intelligence and counterterrorism officials said Tuesday.

It is extremely rare, if not unprecedented, for an American to be approved for targeted killing, officials said. A former senior legal official in the administration of George W. Bush said he did not know of any American who was approved for targeted killing under the former president.

I agree with Robert Villalta. As we’ve seen, the Bush people are hardly bastions of accountibility and truth telling. I take anything his people say with a huge block of salt.
As for Obama, if this allegation is true then I hope he gets his balls handed to him for doing it. There’s no fucking excuse for this kind of action.

@Robert @Zirgar – Bush only held an American in indefinite detention without a trial(Jose Padilla). He never came out and said he can kill them without a trial.
